HOW IT STARTED
Castello di Montespertoli, the early Seventies:
The Azienda Uggiano was originally set up by a group of Bergamo businessmen with a passion for Tuscan wines and inspired by a wine expert from the French school, Giuseppe Losapio. In 1976 the vineyard expanded and settled at San Vincenzo a Torri, a beautiful location in the heart of Tuscany, nestled in the countryside in the midst of monasteries, churches and country villas.
Here, the rich vineyards relentlessly produce wines of excellence, under the supervision of an equally passionate staff.
Taking the professional reins from Giuseppe Losapio, 3 historical partners came into the business to fly the flag of Uggiano traditions with pride: a carefully selected, young and dynamic team whose main aim was to make people one of the core strengths of the business.
Administration and Finance
Born in 1966, after receiving his school leaving diploma in accounting, Fabio completed his military service and worked for a number of companies in the food and crafts sectors. After years of experience in a commercial office, Fabio joined Uggiano in 1992.
Azienda Uggiano works well as a business thanks to the excellence of its products and people employed by the company.
Oenologist and Production Manager
Born in 1977, I graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture in Florence, in Viticulture and Oenology. After experience in a test laboratory and several years in a large company producing Chianti Classico, I started working at Uggiano in 2003.
I am proud to have taken part in the passage of generation of Uggiano management and to have been inspired by the great Giuseppe Losapio. I and my partners have worked here for many years, and we deeply feel that the company is our very own, striving to maintain the founding values, while adding new and innovative features to the business as it grows.
I love the mountains, and when I have an objective, I go out of my way to achieve it. The best words that describe me are constance and determination. In my work, as trends change, I try to adapt the tones and characteristics of the product in line with developments in taste.
Export & Sales Manager
After studying languages, I cultivated an interest in the world of wine as a personal hobby. This was then to become my profession when I started at Uggiano in 2001. Ever since, my passion and experience have grown.
I try to understand the ever-changing demands of clients and to adapt these to production time frames. I believe it is important to guide clients in understanding their needs, with care and precision.
I love running in my free time and as Vice President of the “Rione delle Fornaci” association, I help to run one of the most popular and renowned events in the Chianti region: the grape festival “Festa dell’Uva all’Impruneta”, dating back to 1926.
